Born in Stockholm in 1968 he began his musicstudies at Lunnevads preconservatory
musicschool in 1989. There he studied classical guitar for Gunnar Spjuth,
but also renaissance music, jazz ensemble and music theory.
1992 he was accepted at Malmö College of music
( University of Lund ) and received his diploma at the soloist department
in 1997. ( Master of fine arts in music ).
Professor Göran Söllscher was his main teacher but he was also taught by Per-Olov Johnson, Jacob Lindberg and Roberto Aussell. The chamber music studies with Professor emeritus Dorothy Irving was of great importance. Stefan has also studied instrumental pedagogics at the University
of Gothenburg with Josef Holececk.
His major musical influences are William Byrd,
Johann Sebastian Bach, Igor Stravinsky, Glenn Gould and Frank Zappa.
His repertoire covers all periods from the 16th century vihuela
music ( Narvaez, Mudarra ) to late 20th century music ( Brouwer, Henze
)
